The Husky Oil refinery in Prince George is being sold — but both Husky and the new buyer say the refinery’s employees won’t be laid off.
Husky has agreed to sell the light oil refinery to Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure Ltd., for 215-million dollars in cash and — possibly — an additional 60-million dollars over the next two years, depending on contingencies.
But Husky and Tidewater — both based in Calgary — say the workers will be retained after the deal closes.
The refinery turns crude oil and condensate from B-C and Alberta into low-sulphur gasoline and diesel fuel — producing about 12-thousand barrels a day — and the sale is expected to close by the end of the current fiscal year. (The Canadian Press)
