The cold snap is stretching power consumption on Haida Gwaii.
BC Hydro has issued an alert to customers in Queen Charlotte, Skidegate, Tlell, and Sandspit to conserve power during the deep freeze.
The utility says the very high power demand could cause the system to overload a lead to outages.
BC Hydro is advising customers to turn off any unnecessary items and watch your electricity use, especially during the peak usage times of breakfast and dinner.
