British Columbia has decided to begin making mental health supports more accessible to health-care and community social services workers.
Namely, the Province invested $735,000 in order to expand Care to Speak and Care for Caregivers, a pair of programs that offer both support from peers as well as targeted educational mental-health resources for these workers to use.
Ever since the start of 2020, these services have helped out over 76,000 community social services and health-care workers.
Thanks to the investment from the Province, Care to Speak will be able to increase their availability and create new ways for health-care workers to speak with trained mental health support professionals.
Workers can also get help from the Care for Caregivers website when it comes to looking up educational resources.
Improving these services is a part of A Pathway to Hope, BC’s plan to build a system of that gives the kind of mental health care that everyone deserves.
