Another report of sextortion was received by Kitimat RCMP on June 6th.
After meeting online, the victim reportedly sent intimate videos to someone on social media.
The victim then began receiving threats to release the videos online and to family unless they payed the person.
According to the RCMP, scammers lure victims by creating fake online personas to build a relationship and coerce them into sending intimate photos or videos.
RCMP say that if you’re a victim of sextortion to immediately block the suspect and contact the RCMP.
