There are fewer than 400 active wildfires in BC for the first time in a while, but that still leaves just over 200 listed as out of control.
Nonetheless, crews have made progress on the blazes raging in the north west, with a number of orders and alerts being reduced or lifted.
Evacuation orders which had been in place both south and east of Houston have been lifted, and the surrounding alert areas reduced significantly.
Orders and alerts remain unchanged between Burns Lake and Tintagel, and south of Babine Lake, as has an order at Andrew’s Creek, west of Ootsa Lake.
Alerts are in effect along the northwest portion of Francois Lake and in an area west of the Omineca Provincial Park.
South of there, alerts are also covering an area south of Noonlang Lake and around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof.
Orders and alerts covering a large portion of the southeast Nechako and northern Cariboo areas also remain unchanged.
