The family of Sebastian Moore will gather outside City Hall on Tuesday, May 27th at 1:00 PM to demand justice following the shocking decision by Crown Counsel to not lay charges in his murder. This gathering is not a protest, but rather a show of support for family members who will be meeting with Crown Counsel regarding the case.
Sebastian, a beloved 17-year-old Indigenous youth, was brutally killed in November 2023 while trying to protect his cousin from an abusive partner. Despite clear evidence, including video footage and multiple witnesses, Crown Counsel recently decided to drop all charges, citing text messages prior to the incident as a basis for their decision. The family, who had been assured by the RCMP that there was enough evidence to proceed with charges, feels the case has been unfairly dismissed.
The Moore family believes the decision to not move forward with the case is unjust and may be influenced by systemic biases. They are calling for the investigation to remain open and for Crown Counsel to reconsider their decision. The family will not stay silent—Sebastian’s life matters, and his murder deserves justice.
