To make B.C. a more business-friendly province, the government has launched a review aimed at streamlining processes, reducing barriers, and fostering innovation. Minister Diana Gibson explained that the review will focus on modernizing the regulatory and permitting systems to make it easier for businesses to thrive.
The province is inviting businesses to share feedback via an online portal until fall 2025. This collaborative effort will help identify the key challenges businesses face across four areas: policy, legislation, funding, and taxes. The insights will guide the government in creating performance measures to improve the ease of doing business in B.C. and drive investment.
The review supports the province’s recent actions, including fast-tracking renewable energy projects like wind and solar, as well as 18 natural resource initiatives, aimed at growing the economy while maintaining environmental standards. The aim is to simplify processes, improve competitiveness, and reduce the province’s reliance on U.S. trade, creating a more supportive environment for businesses of all sizes.
