Northeastern British Columbia is now home to a new centre aimed at transforming addiction recovery and treatment. The North Wind Wellness Centre (NWWC), located in Pouce Coupe, 12 minutes away from Dawson Creek, will integrate Indigenous healing traditions with clinical care to provide comprehensive support for people on their healing journey. The facility will include detox beds, addiction treatment spaces, and 40 supportive housing units, offering a full spectrum of services under one roof. The Junction, a peer-led community hub at the heart of the centre, will connect all services, helping individuals build strong support networks.
The NWWC is a major step forward in addressing addiction issues in rural and Indigenous communities, providing trauma-informed and culturally safe care. It will serve people across the region and beyond, offering an opportunity for healing close to home. A partnership between the Province, the First Nations Health Authority, Northern Health, and other key organizations has made this project possible. By blending traditional Indigenous wellness practices with modern clinical care, the NWWC is set to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
