On (Saturday) July 26, Smithers RCMP received a complaint about a Chevrolet Camaro driving dangerously in a residential neighborhood. A community member reported that the vehicle was speeding, ignoring stop signs, and performing doughnuts at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Bulkley Drive. The reckless behavior produced a large amount of smoke and created a hazard for other drivers and residents.
Police later located the Camaro parked at a nearby residence. The registered owner was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention under Section 144(1)(a) of the Motor Vehicle Act. As a result, the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Smithers RCMP thanked the public for reporting the incident, noting that community involvement is vital to enforcing road safety and protecting neighborhoods. They encourage anyone witnessing dangerous driving to come forward to help keep the roads safe for everyone.
