The City of Prince Rupert confirms that the Boil Water Notice remains in effect as staff and consulting experts continue investigating the situation. At this time, there is no confirmed timeline for when the notice will be lifted.
Officials are working diligently to identify the underlying cause and ensure that the water system complies with all safety and quality requirements before removing the advisory. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
What the Boil Water Notice means:
Residents and water users must boil water vigorously for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing vegetables intended to be eaten raw, or making ice. Boiling is not required for bathing or washing clothes.
Owners of public facilities are asked to post Boil Water Notices at all public sinks and drinking fountains or turn off public taps. They should also verbally inform their customers about the notice when possible.
The City initially issued the Boil Water Notice on August 6th and urges residents to stay informed by subscribing to municipal alerts through the City app or Connect Rocket emergency program at www.princerupert.ca/emergency.
