A man is facing multiple charges after a serious assault involving a weapon in the community of Masset. On August 28th, Masset RCMP were called to the scene of the incident, where they found the suspect being restrained by local citizens. Officers quickly took the man into custody with the assistance of bystanders.
After the arrest, police determined that the suspect required medical attention. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released under strict conditions. He is expected to appear in court in October.
RCMP say a report will be submitted to Crown Counsel recommending several charges in relation to the assault. The quick response from police and the actions of local residents helped bring the situation under control without further harm.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing to gather information. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to investigators to come forward.
