Northern Health says the Emergency Department at Nats’oojeh Hospital in Fort St. James will be available this weekend due to staffing challenges.
The Emergency Department will be closed starting 5:00PM Friday, September 12th, and will remain closed until 8:00am Monday, September 15th.
As usual during periods of Emergency Department closures, residents of the Fort St. James area in need of immediate emergency care for life-threatening issues should still call 911 for assistance as transport can be arranged to the nearest available medical facility.
For minor and non-urgent needs, those with access to a family doctor have been asked to contact them first for health advice, while those without, can utilize Healthlink BC online or via 811, or the Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811. For Indigenous residents, the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program is available at 1-855-344-3800.
Northern BC residents can also book an appointment to see a pharmacist for 21 minor ailments and prescription contraceptives.
