The District of Kitimat water system is now under a Boil Water Notice.
Residents are advised to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least two minutes before drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
This notice remains in effect until further notice, and updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
Meanwhile the Dike Road near Riverlodge is temporarily closed for safety reasons. Due to erosion concerns along the banks of the Kitimat River brought on by the recent heavy rains
The district has urged residents to avoid riverbanks for now as water levels in the region are expected to continuing rising today as runoff from the rains flows into them
The BC River Forecast centre says peak flows are expected later today and into tonight.
