A Washington state resident had been arrested and charged for allegedly encouraging and supporting the killer who carried out the school shooting in Tumbler Ridge.
A 30 year old James Cody Bryant allegedly offered advice, money and technical assistance to the shooter six months leading up to the mass shooting.
RCMP say shortley after the shooting they learned that Jesse Van Rootselaar had been speaking to someone on a social media platform called discord.
Police said they identified the person to be Bryant.
RCMP said that they both agreed to record and even broadcast a livestream of the shootings.
On August 30th they both tested the livestream then Van Rootselaar logged into her twitch account and started the live stream.
As it showed her sitting in a car with a riffle and a long gun in her lap, the livestream only lasted about 20 seconds.
Bryant also allegedly sent money to Van Rootselaar to assist in the school shooting, he also sent a lighter to be used to construct as explosive device to be detonated during the attack, police allege.
In court documents from August of 2025 Van Rootselaar was also considering an attack in another city in BC.
Such as Dawson Creek, Fort St John or Prince George, at either a mall or a school.
Bryant told FBI that she suggested a school for a mass shooting but Bryant told her that was a bad idea, and suggested a church or grocery store.
RCMP say thay Bryant had the opportunity to report the killer to the uthorities, but instead offered to help.
