Strong winds, heavy snowfall, and a weak snowpack have avalanche risks elevated in the Northwest.
Avalanche Canada has set the danger rating to 4 for both coastal and inland sections of the coast north of Hartley Bay and west of Kitwanga.
Stage 4 is the second highest risk level, denoting very dangerous travel conditions, and a high likelihood of large avalanches, both natural and human-caused.
Meanwhile, the danger rating across the rest of the Bulkley Valley and Stikine is set to stage 3, or considerable risk.
Residents are advised to stay away from stormy areas, loose slabs, and mountainsides, and to avoid travel in the backcountry.
