Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at Ambleside Park – Live on Location with CJNY
Join us in Ambleside Park on Saturday, June 21, from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. for an evening of community, culture, and connection. We gather on the traditional and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Nation) to honor and uplift the voices, stories, and traditions of Indigenous peoples.
This family-friendly event will feature vibrant cultural sharing through music, dance, storytelling, and hands-on activities suitable for all ages. The event is proudly supported by CJNY – The Journey, who will be live on location, bringing the sounds and spirit of the celebration to the airwaves.
Highlights include:
-
Canoe Families gathering and beachside activities
-
Live performances from Squamish Nation artists, closing with a special performance by Bitterly Divine
-
A salmon dinner cooked over an open fire by the renowned Wilfred Baker
We welcome everyone to experience the strength, beauty, and resilience of Indigenous cultures and the immeasurable contributions of First Nations peoples. This is more than a celebration—it is a coming together in the spirit of truth, respect, and unity.
Let’s honour this day with our presence, our voices, and our hearts.
