The Tahltan Central Government is taking a major step forward in negotiations on the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.
Leadership from the Tahltan Central Government, Iskut Band, and Tahltan Band recently met with the Nation’s Negotiating Team for a full update on the proposed Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) with Skeena Gold + Silver. Following the meeting, leadership expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.
As a result, the Negotiating Team has been given the green light to begin community engagement with Tahltan members. This outreach effort is in preparation for a Nation-wide ratification vote set to take place on October 8th and 9th.
The IBA is seen as a significant step toward achieving economic sovereignty for the Tahltan Nation. It also holds potential for increased infrastructure and services across the Nation’s three communities.
Leadership is encouraging all members to participate in the upcoming discussions and help shape the direction of the Nation. Community voices will play a critical role in the final decision on the proposed agreement.
