A woman has been charged after a man was stabbed in Fort St. John last week.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 28, just before 2 p.m. in a parking lot near 99 Avenue and 100 Street. RCMP responded quickly and located a male victim who had been stabbed in the chest. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Within ten minutes of the initial 911 call, officers arrested the suspect nearby.
Police have identified the accused as 28-year-old Kayla Breeze Trudeau, who is known to police. She faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Trudeau remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
RCMP blocked off part of 99 Avenue while they investigated the scene. The area has since been reopened to the public.
Police say the individuals involved in the incident knew each other and confirm there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The Fort St. John RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone with further information to contact the detachment.
