A person has been seriously injured following a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on Highway 97 near Quesnel.
According to Quesnel RCMP, officers responded to the crash at approximately 1:14 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 26.
Police say a pickup truck was attempting to enter Highway 97 from Highway 26 when it collided with a northbound tractor-trailer.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
Highway 97 was closed for approximately three hours while RCMP conducted their investigation and emergency crews worked at the scene.
“The highway was closed for approximately three hours while police conducted their investigation,” said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch of the Quesnel RCMP.
Investigators have not released the identity of the injured driver, and the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
