Skeena MLA Claire Rattée has taken her concerns about the direction of the B.C. Conservative Party public, writing in a post on her Substack newsletter that party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay has failed to unite a caucus that’s lost nine members in less than three weeks.
Rattée says she made repeated private attempts to reach Findlay through caucus meetings and phone calls before going public. She says Findlay has called several caucus meetings but either left early after speaking or didn’t attend, including one held the same day the post went up.
Rattée also points to what she calls “extremely poor staffing choices” in the leader’s office, including reports of a possible police investigation involving senior staff, and says the party is losing public trust as a result. A rival party made up of former Conservative members has also formed in recent weeks.
Findlay, a former federal cabinet minister under Stephen Harper, was chosen to lead the B.C. Conservatives earlier this year in a narrow leadership vote.
Rattée says she remains a Conservative MLA and will keep working for her constituents, but is calling on Findlay to meet directly with caucus members, attend meetings, and lay out a plan before the fall legislative session or a possible snap election.
